From January 29 to February 14, 2010, carnival-goers wearing the 56th Québec Winter Carnival effigy pass can take a warm and sweet break to enjoy free hot chocolate with a visit to Observatoire de la Capitale overlooking Québec City.
This warm welcome includes more than a sweet beverage. With the price of admission, visitors can also take a free guided tour of the Observatory. Available Saturday, February 6 and 13, and Sunday, February 7 and 14, this guided tour at more than 220 meters high lets visitors discover the history and geography of Québec’s capital while enjoying an unobstructed view of various Carnival sites and attractions.
Observatory visitors will be invited to treat themselves to a Carnival gift—the book Le Carnaval de Québec : la grande fête de l'hiver. This superb full-color publication, available for the special price of $29.95, looks back on 50 years of this great Québec festival’s history. In French, through simple and vivid language, historian Jean Provencher invites a series of stakeholders and participants to share their memories in this work where history is woven and images take shape.
Have a great Carnival!
